OUR ADVOCACY 2003 to 2010

Emily is a youth ambassador for JDRF Illinois. She gave speeches in 2010 about living with Type 1 Diabetes and to motivate employees for the 32nd Ron Santo Walk to Cure Diabetes at Nalco Chemical in Naperville and Pella Windows in Elgin.

The Shaggy and Scooby Doo theme Emily’s Hope Mobile participated in the 2010 Batavia Loyalty Day parade,
North Aurora Community parade and the Swedish Days parade.

.

Emily gave a speech to our State Representative Bill Foster for the Promise to Remember Me Campaign.
In this program children w/Type 1 Diabetes get to talk to government officials so when legislation comes across their desk
they remember the child’s story and vote yes for funding research.

Emily was first in line to meet Ron Santo after his speech at the 32nd Annual Ron Santo Walk to Cure Diabetes in Lisle in 2010.
She even got him to autograph her Team Emily’s Hope walk t-shirt.
This was our 8th year participating in this annual walk.

Emily’s Hope had a booth at Swedish Days, Windmill City Fest and North Aurora Days in 2010.
We were able to talk with many people from the community about Type 1 Diabetes and raise some money for JDRF.

Emily gave a speech in September 2009 about living with Type 1 Diabetes and to motivate employees for the 31st Ron Santo Walk to Cure Diabetes at GE in Lombard.
